The Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP) was established in the FY2021 Consolidated Appropriations Act to expand access to and adoption of broadband service on Tribal land or remote learning, telework, or telehealth resources during the COVID–19 pandemic. The program was appropriated $1 billion in FY2021, to remain available until expended. On June 3, 2021, $980 million in funding was made available: Source

IIJA appropriated an additional $2 billion in new funding for grants under TBCP. NTIA approved the use of $1.9 billion (including nearly $1 billion from IIJA) for 226 projects submitted pursuant to the June 2021 TBCP NOFO. A list of grantees is available here

On January 22, 2024, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced the availability of an additional $980 million in financial assistance through Round Two of TBCP. NTIA will allocate equitable distributions of up to $500,000 to Tribal Governments that have not previously received a TBCP award. Applications are due March 22, 2024: Source
