Electric or Low Emitting Ferry Pilot Program

Description:

Establishes the Electric or Low Emitting Ferry Pilot Program, which provides competitive funding for the purchase of electric or low-emitting ferries that utilize alternative fuels or on-board energy storage systems. The program is allocated $50 million annually from fiscal years 2022 to 2026. It aims to reduce emissions from ferry services, which are a significant mode of transportation in certain regions, including the state with the largest number of Marine Highway projects. The federal share of the cost for leasing or purchasing compliant ferry-related equipment and facilities can be up to 85%.
