To establish and implement a pilot program to provide to local governments financial assistance for the acquisition of slip-on tanker units to establish fleets of vehicles that can be quickly converted to be operated as fire engines.

On February 6, 2024 DOI announced that $5 million is being given to this program to fund local governments to convert vehicles into wildland fire engines. Source
