Description:

For grants to institutions of higher education for research, development, demonstration, testing, and commercial application of marine energy technologies at existing National Marine Energy Centers and the establishment of new centers.

As of December 2023, there are four National Marine Energy Centers (NMECs): Pacific Marine Energy Center, Hawai’i National Marine Renewable Energy Center, Southeast National Marine Renewable Energy Center, and Atlantic Marine Energy Center.
