Assistance for Latest and Zero Building Energy Code Adoption: Latest Building Energy Code

Description:

For grants to States and local governments to adopt building energy codes that meet or exceed, or achieves equivalent or greater energy savings than, the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code for residential buildings and the ANSI/ASHRAE/IES Standard 90.1–2019 for commercial buildings. Grants may be for new and renovated building to achieve compliance and must include training, enforcement programs, and compliance tracking.

On September 19, 2023, DOE announced $240 million in formula funding to states and territories. Letters of Intent (LOIs) to reserve funds are due January 31, 2024. Full Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until September 30, 2025: Source

On December 18, 2023, DOE announced the availability of up to $530 million in technical assistance for Latest Building Energy Codes competitive grants (Section 50131(b)) and Zero Energy Code competitive grants (Section 50131(c)). Concept papers are due February 9, 2024 and full applications are due April 30, 2024: Source

Of the $330 million appropriated, up to 5%, $16.5 million, may be reserved for administrative costs.
