Description:
Grants to small- and medium-sized manufacturers to build new or retrofit existing manufacturing and industrial facilities to produce or recycle advanced energy products in communities where coal mines or coal power plants have closed. To re-equip, expand, or establish a facility for the production or recycling of advanced energy technologies (including clean electricity, industrial decarbonization, clean transportation, clean fuels, etc.); or to re-equip an industrial of manufacturing facility with equipment designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of that facility.
Projects must occur in census tracts (a) where coal mines have closed since December 31, 1999, (b) where coal-fired power plant units have closed since December 31, 2009, or (c) that are immediately adjacent to a or b. A mapping tool showing such closures is available here.
