Description:

To provide Federal financial assistance to advance new clean hydrogen production, processing, delivery, storage, and use equipment manufacturing technologies and techniques.

Activities are grouped into a Clean Hydrogen Manufacturing Initiative (Energy Policy Act of 2005 Section 815a) focused on enhancing domestic manufacturing of clean hydrogen use, storage, and related equipment and a Clean Hydrogen Technology Recycling RD&D Program (Energy Policy Act of 2005 Section 815b) that covers recycling of equipment for clean hydrogen processing, delivery, storage, and use, including fuel cells.

On February 16, 2022, DOE published a Request for Information (RFI) on the Clean Hydrogen Manufacturing Recycling Research, Development, and Demonstration Program and the Clean Hydrogen Electrolysis Program: Source

On March 15, 2023, DOE announced the availability of $750 million over five years through the Clean Hydrogen Manufacturing and Recycling RD&D Program and the Clean Hydrogen Electrolysis Program. Up to $280 million is available for the Clean Hydrogen Manufacturing and Recycling RD&D Program: Source
