Description:

Provides funding for the establishment of Building Training and Assessment Centers (BTACs). These centers are intended to educate and train engineers, architects, building scientists, building energy permitting and enforcement officials, and building technicians in energy-efficient design and operation. The BTACs will be hosted by institutions of higher education, including community colleges and universities, with the goal of preparing a diverse and equitable workforce to reduce the nation’s carbon footprint. The program will also promote research and development for alternative energy sources and distributed energy systems, particularly for energy-intensive buildings.
