Description:

Block and competitive grant program to assist states, tribes, and local governments. Funds can be used for a variety of activities such as conducting residential and commercial building energy audits, incentivizing energy efficiency improvement, improved building codes, technology to capture methane from landfills, and many more.

DOE will distribute $440 million in formula and competitive EECBG Program funding: $299 million (68%) in formula awards to local governments, $123 million (28%) in formula awards to states, $8.8 million (2%) in formula funding for Tribes, and $8.8 million (2%) in competitive grants to ineligible local governments and Indian tribes.

The application deadline for formula funding for states and territories was July 31, 2023. The application deadline for formula funding for local governments and Tribes is April 30, 2024. Grant Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until April 30, 2024.
