Implementation Status/Rulemaking:
The SCRC has announced $20 million in new funding through the State Economic and Infrastructure Development (SEID) Grant Program, which includes $5 million from the IIJA, to support a wide range of projects, including public infrastructure improvements, economic development transportation, healthcare access, affordable housing, business and workforce development, resource conservation and preservation, tourism, and recreation. The SCRC’s Five-Year Strategic Plan directs these investments, and eligibility for the grant program is designed to be flexible to meet community needs across the Commission’s service area, which includes states like Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. State and local governments, political subdivisions of states, Federally recognized Indian tribes, and nonprofits are all eligible to apply for grants ranging from $50,000 to $500,000.
