The Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program, started in 2009, provides 50% cost-share grants to regional USFS offices for the implementation and monitoring of ecological restoration projects on priority forest landscapes. Eligible projects must cover at least 50,000 acres and be composed of primarily National Forest System land. By law, the project must, among other things, include plans to “reduce the risk of uncharacteristic wildfire, including through the use of fire for ecological restoration and maintenance and reestablishing natural fire regimes, where appropriate.”
