On May 24, 2023, the Federal Aviation Administration published a notice and request for comments on soliciting project proposals for the Inflation Reduction Act Fueling Aviation’s Sustainable Transition (FAST) Grant Program. Comments were due July 24, 2023: Source

Requires land use change to be incorporated into GHG emission modeling; eligible projects must reduce fuel GHG emissions by at least 50% compared to petroleum-based jet fuel, as calculated by a method similar to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) or another methodology that is “as stringent” as the aforementioned requirements.

The combined budget authority of Section 40007, including FAST-SAF, FAST-Tech, and administrative and oversight expenses, is $297 million. CBO estimates outlays for FY22-31 to be $294 million.
