State-Based Home Energy Efficiency Contractor Training Grants

Description:

For financial assistance to States to develop and implement training and education programs for contractors involved in the installation of home energy efficiency and electrification improvements. States may use funds to reduce the cost of training contractor employees; to provide testing and certification of contractors trained through a State program; to partner with nonprofit organizations to develop and implement a State program; or for administrative expenses.

Also known as Training for Residential Energy Contractors (TREC). $150,000,000 will be distributed to states through a formula program and up to $40,000,000 will be distributed to states through a competitive process.

On July 17, 2023, the Department of Energy published a Administrative and Legal Requirements Document for $150 million in formula funding. The final application deadline is January 31, 2024, with funding awarded on a rolling basis. Source
