Description

The Fire Management Assistance Grants (FMAG) program offers 75% cost share grants to states, local, and tribal governments for the management and control of fires on public or private land “threatening such destruction as would constitute a major disaster.” Grants can be used for suppression and temporary repairs (30 days of work) to damaged infrastructure but cannot cover prevention or long-term recovery efforts. A fire management assistance declaration covers the current fire and all future declared fires in that calendar year. FMAGs are funded through the Disaster Relief Fund (DRF).
