Appropriations Notes
The Forest Legacy Program is funded through the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Beginning in FY2021, the Great American Outdoors Act (P.L. 116-152) provided direct/mandatory funding for the LWCF, with allocations to the Forest Legacy Program determined annually by Congress. Beginning in FY2022, mandatory LWCF funding is subject to a sequestration reduction of 5.7 percent across all programs. Amounts sequestered from LWCF programs become available for obligation in the following year. Appropriations listed in this database (FY2021-FY2024) reflect total net budget authority (less current fiscal year sequestration, plus previous year sequestration).
Supplemental appropriations through the Inflation Reduction Act are available through September 30, 2031.
