Additional Program Notes & TCS Insights

From FY2009 to FY2019, Forest and Rangeland Research (FRR) funded 7 different strategic program areas (SPAs) as line items: Wildland Fire & Fuels R&D; Invasive Species R&D; Recreation R&D; Resource Management & Use; Water, Air & Soil R&D; Wildlife and Fish R&D; and Inventory and Monitoring R&D. Starting in FY2020, FRR began to divide its work into research emphasis areas, which frequently change and are not funded as separate line items. Wildfire or Wildland Fire are listed in USFS Budget Justifications as a research emphasis area or as the primary component of a research emphasis area in every year between FY2020 and FY2025.
